Spicy Chicken Shawarma

This is a recipe which was given by my school frnd Sidra, and I was waiting since long to make it, and finally few days ago I tried it, and beleive me I loved every bite of it. Thanxx Sid! Do try it frnds... :)




Ingredients for Shawarma:

Boneless chicken                                500 gm (1/2 kg)
Plain Yogurt                                       1/2 cup
Paprika/ Red Chili powder                 1  tsp.           
Turmeric Powder                               1/2  tsp.
Garlic Paste                                       1/2 tbsp.
Ginger Paste                                      1/2 tbsp.
Salt                                                   1 tsp.
Cumin Powder (Zeera)                      1 tsp.
Coriander Powder                             1 tsp.
Cardamom Powder                           1/4 tsp.
Cinnamon Powder                             1/4 tsp.
Black Pepper                                     1/2 tsp.
Lemon Juice                                      1 tbsp.
Coriander Leaves (dhanyia)               Few
Oil                                                    2 tbsp.
Pita bread                                         As required


Ingredients for Garlic Sauce:

Mayonnaise                  3 tbsp
Plain Yogurt                 3 tbsp
Garlic paste                   1/2 tsp
Cream                           1 tbsp
Salt                                Pinch

Mix all the above mentioned ingredients and garlic sauce is ready :)

Other Ingredients:

Lettuce
Tomato Chopped
Onion Sliced
Hot Sauce
Garlic Sauce
Fries


Procedure:

Chop chicken into small cubes. Marinate it by above mentioned ingredients for shawarma except oil for 4 hours or preferably overnight:

Next, heat oil in a flat pan and fry the chicken until done. U can also grill it at 200 C for 10 minutes per side after skewing it.

Now lets assemble the shawarma. 

Below is shown the pita bread, easily available from bakery/stores. Toast it from both the sides.

Next spread the garlic sauce over it.

Now fill the pita bread with chicken filling, sliced onions, tomatoes, chopped lettuce, hot sauce and whatever filling u like :) 

Roll and wrap with foil or grease proof paper. Serve warm :)

    1. They are easily available in markets.. u can use instead chili sauce or pepper sauce :) almost the same

    1. My pleasure. Yes u can make it at home dear. Take 1 cup of all purpose flour, 2 tbsp. oil, 1 tsp. instant yeast, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp. olive oil, 1 tsp. warm milk. Knead all these things with the help of warm water properly, and keep in a warm place covered.. Let it rise for 1-2 hours until double in size. Next proceed making small balls of the dough, roll out into small flat breads and cook on stove top. Follow this naan recipe for help.. - Here

  6. tahini sauce can also be used in place of garlic sauce? (saw it in many shwarma recipes). pls tell recipe of tahini sauce
