Black Chickpeas

Today I am going to share the recipe of black chickpeas with you!! They are just so simple & easy to make!!


Black chickpeas                                1 & 1/2 cup boiled (Fresh or frozen)
Onions                                               1 big (grinded)
Tomato                                              2 (big, blended) 
Oil                                                     1 & 1/2 wooden spoon (doi)
Green Chili                                       2 (grinded)
Red Chili powder                              1 tsp.           
Turmeric Powder                               1/2 tsp.
Garlic Paste                                       1 tsp.
Ginger Paste                                      1 tsp.
Salt                                                    1 tsp.
Cumin Seeds (Zeera)                        1 tsp.
Coriander Powder                             1 tsp.
Mustard seeds                                    1/2 tsp.
Whole Black pepper                          4
Cinnamon                                          1
Curry leaves                                      1
Cloves                                                4
Fenugreek leaves (Maythi)                1 tsp

Chopped coriander                             Few leaves

Curry black


Heat oil in a pan, and add the grinded onions. Fry until onions are golden brown. Then add garlic and ginger paste, green chilies and the blended tomatoes, and fry for 5 minutes, then add all other spices. Fry for few minutes, until oil separates. Next add boiled chickpeas.

Fry this for 10-12 minutes. Next add 2 glasses of water and let it boil. Then keep the lid covered until chickpeas are well cooked, gravy thickens a bit and oil separates. This will take 20-25 min. You can keep gravy as much as you wish! Although black chickpeas have a bit thin gravy, as shown in pic above. Sprinkle whole spices powder (optional) and chopped coriander! 

Serve with hot chapati/ roti :)
