Salad is a most popular item on the dining table in any society. Salads are healthy, satisfying meals on their own and are a perfect accompaniments to main dishes. Whether served chilled or at room temperature it is must eat article irrespective of meal timings. It has many nutrients that are necessary for our body; e.g, iron, proteins, minerals, vitamins, fibers. Many raw vegetables are really good for health. Because cooking destroys some of the real vitamins in them. If you are a weight watcher, you would love to spend the entire day eating only salads!!

Sweet French Toast - Eggy bread

Clever cooks never throw out the leftover n stale bread. They make breadcrumbs out of it or give it a tasty appearance like this - Hot Steaming brunch - French toast. Is there anything better than thick slices of french toast on Sundays breakfast!! lol m drooling! French toast is a dish of bread soaked in eggs & then toasted in a frying pan and served with butter or maple syrup. It is one of my favorite breakfast dishes. Yumm.. It works best with a day or two old stale bread, thickly sliced. Thin slices of bread or fresh ones get messy and break into pieces when soaked in the egg milk batter. Some people eat it with powdered sugar. French toast is a classic breakfast delicacy, that almost everyone should learn how to cook. It is one of the yumaacious cold weather breakfast. Here is its recipe for the simple french toast, that results in scrumptious gold brown toast in minutes:



Egg| Breakfast| Bread| French Toast



Serves: 1

Ingredients:

Eggs (Lightly Beaten)                               1
Sugar                                                      2 tbsp.
Milk                                                        2 tbsp
Oil                                                           3 tbsp.
Bread                                                      2 slices


Procedure:

Add sugar in 2 tbsp milk. Mix & then add beaten egg.

Beat it well, dip both sides of bread slices in it & fry in heated oil until golden brown from both sides.

Serve with hot tea, butter/maple syrup! :)

Aalo Palak is a scrumptious Punjabi delicacy.. which is really easy to make..:) Boiled spinach leaves are mixed with potato cubes and some spices. It serves best with roti or chapati. Spinach is rich in iron, and gives soo much energy as we know from our famous cartoons mostly loved by kids - Popeyee the sailor mannn :P Lol, introduce spinach to ur kids thru these cartoons and ur kids will love to have it with out any NO's lol :P

Delicious Coffee Custard

Custard is one of the simple, quick, mouth watering, luscious, healthy & easy desserts to make.
A recipe loaded with flavors of fruits, mixed and nicely combined with milk, custard powder, coffee, chocolate syrup, cream and nuts to give a flavorful and attractive texture is a perfect colorful dessert to attract kids. Esp, for naughty kids who don't drink milk or eat fruits. It is a wonderful dish for vegetarians too, because I prepare it without the egg factor :) There are many different ways to make the custard, and ingredients can be changed, acc to one's taste. Some of the combinations can include, cake, jelly, fruits, nuts, cake rusks, coffee, milk cream etc.

For weight conscious friends, this sweet also turns out to be a perfect dessert if they use no fat milk and those zero-calorie sugars :)  It turns out to be a cool refreshing lip smacking summer dessert with fresh fruits and coffee tinge.

Spicy French Toast

Sometimes you get bored with the normal french toast. To give ur taste buds a soothing effect, u can sometimes give a twist to french toast & make this spicy version of french toast, which is really easy to cook. Believe me ur taste buds will dance after having them :P This unique french toast is a healthy, tasty & filling breakfast. In this recipe, a selection of spices have been added into a beaten egg, and then the bread is dipped in it & fried :) It is best served with mayonnaise. Can be served with maple syrup too. 

Spicy French toast is basically a savory dish of bread soaked in eggs & then toasted in a frying pan. It works best with a day or two slightly stale hard bread, sliced thickly, because it holds together best. Thin slices of bread or fresh bread, falls apart and break into pieces when soaked in the egg milk batter. French toast is a common breakfast dish, that almost everyone should learn how to make. Here is the simple recipe:

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

Eggs (Lightly Beaten)                               1
Salt                                                         Pinch
Red Chili powder                                    Pinch
Green Chili                                              1 chopped
Coriander leaves                                      Few
Milk                                                        2 tbsp
Oil                                                           3 tbsp.
Bread                                                      2 slices
Garlic Paste                                             Pinch (optional)



Spicy French Toast| Breakfast| Eggs


Procedure:

Add salt, green & red chili powder in 2 tsp milk in a bit broad flat dish. Mix well & then add beaten egg.

Beat it well, dip both sides of bread slices in it & fry in medium heated oil, to prevent burning. Fry until golden brown from both sides.

Serve with mayonnaise & hot tea! :)

Note: It is best to be used butter, instead of cooking oil to give it a yummacious healthy taste.
You can adjust the spices according to your taste.
You can add turmeric powder to give it a nice color.
You can use spinach leaves in addition to coriander leaves.
Onion give it a nice taste but they are not necessary.

I have discussed different ways of cooking chicken from which some of the most loved ones are 

Chicken Shashlik with Sauce and Mughlai chicken. Today I am going to discuss with u another variety that is, Cumin (Zeera chicken). Bit astonished? What kinda way it is to cook. Don't worry, same way I felt when I heard first about it. But believe me it comes out to be really tasty! U must try it :) The spicy zeera chicken brings in it the unique traditional flavor. The pieces of chicken cooked in cumin seeds & yogurt goes so well :)

Rice is one of the most admired foods eaten by the majority of us. It is also an significant staple dish that is extensively consumed in Asia. It is enormously nutritious food and an important healthy diet that contains more than 15 vitamins & minerals. It has been likely that world's half population live entirely or partially on rice, where 90% of the world's crop is developed & used in Asia. It can be used to cook both as Savory & Sweet. Some of the dishes that are made of rice, and I have discussed are:

Sheer Khorma (Sweet Vermicilli)

Sheer Khurma actually means "Milk with dates". It is also sometimes known as Sheer surma - Sheer- sweets and surma means dates in Farsi language. It is a traditional and customary festive breakfast on Eid day. 

Vermicelli /Seyvian/Semyia is a delicious and quick dessert. When u have nothing available in emergency, it will take few minutes to get ready. It is best served chilled but can also be served hot. Seviyan is an Urdu word. In Indian Cuisine it has come from Mughal period. This is one of the must dishes among the Muslim community on Eid festivals. In this recipe, vermicelli have been prepared in milk with dry fruits & dates! Dates itself are extremely nutritious and make a complete meal. This pudding is full of texture flavored of cardamom. U can also add nuts in it of ur desired choice. They are extremely nutritious. Vermicelli (Wheat Noodles) Pudding is a very delicious, easy to make, quick sweet that u can make it in very little time. This recipe uses vermicelli as its main essential ingredient. What u have to do is to only boil some sweetened milk and add roasted nuts & vermicelli in it. Yess!! It's really thatt simple :) Vermicelli is a traditional type of pasta, made from semolina, and is known as Seviyan in Urdu and Hindi, and semiya in Tamil. Scrambled Eggs (Hosh Posh)

Eggs are one of those dishes that one can have in any way, it may be sweet or spicy. And there is no special time or occasion to have it, they can fit in any meal, whether it be breakfast; (Omelettes, half fry, hosh posh, boiled eggs etc). Or lunch, supper, or dinner like Egg curry, Fried egg rice, variety of salads or in sweets like cakes, cookies etc. They are one of the commonly eaten food groups in the world. Eggs are high in protein & calcium. Hence healthy & nutritious. 

Hosh Posh is a very quick, easy to prepare & healthy delicacy. It is called perfect English Breakfast. It is extremely delicious. To get a fluffy appearance, the egg is beaten with milk, cream or even water. The water vapors compressed with in the swiftly cooked egg gives it a fluffy bubbly look. Some people even add baking powder to give it even more fat fluffier appearance but I actually dislike it :/ 

Today I am going to discuss with u how to cook Scrambled eggs or hosh posh. Here is the recipe:


Serves: 1

Ingredients:

Eggs (Lightly Beaten)                               1
Onion (chopped)                                     1 (small)
Salt                                                         1/4 tsp.
Red Chili powder                                   1/4 tsp.
Black Pepper                                         1/4 tsp
Milk                                                       2 tsp
Oil                                                          1 tbsp.
Shred Chicken boiled                              Few pc. (Optional)


Breakfast | Onion | Egg | Scrambled Eggs| Hosh Posh

Procedure:

Add salt, red chili powder & black pepper in 2 tsp milk & add beaten egg & chopped onion. Beat it well and fry it in heated oil until golden brown and solid from both sides. When about to get cooked break the omelette into pieces. Sprinkle some garam masala. Serve with bread & tea :)

Many people love milkshakes as they are one of the most delicious beverages found in this world. A milkshake is a sweet shake which is generally made from milk blended with fruits and sugar. It can also be made with milk blended with spreads, ice cream or flavoring agents such as fruit syrup or chocolate sauce. Milkshakes have been overwhelmed by people all over the world since the advent of the blender in the beginning of 1900's. Today there are many varieties of milkshakes, which have different ingredients. 
Bananas are one of my favorite fruits! And banana milk shake is one of the simplest shakes which can me made in seconds :)  It tastes extra delicious and the bubbly banana seeds in mouth are just my world lol.You must give it a try. In this shake, I have mixed banana, sugar & milk in blender until foamy.. yumm! The rich & bold taste of banana combined with the milk and bits of ice cubes is a winning combination. Kids will love it! Here are step - by- step instructions to create ur own!

Traditional Simple Tea (Chai)

A diligent approach to tea preparation can get the most out of the essence & health benefits provided by the tea shrub, Camellia sinensis. When I was a little girl, I remember I searched for the tea recipe lol!! So here is the one for little young fellows <3 To make tea just accurate, follow these steps:

Half Fried Eggs

Today I am going to discuss with u how to half fry an egg! Flipping your fried eggs to stay away from the disturbing trauma that a burnt egg white & uncooked yolk can cause? Panic no more! There's nothing as marvelous as a perfectly fried egg -- and with a little practice, you'll rock! Here is the recipe:


Half fry eggs| Breakfast

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

Eggs                                                        1
Salt                                                         1/4 tsp.
Black Pepper                                         1/4 tsp
Oil                                                         1 wooden spoon




Procedure:

Heat oil a non-stick pan on high flame. Crack in an egg gently making sure the yolk doesn't break. Turn the heat down. Then wait for the white of the egg to change color from transparent to white. Then spoon the hot oil over the yolk until a thin white layer forms. Season with salt & black pepper. Serve with bread & tea :)

Tip: Use refrigerated eggs to avoid egg yolk from breaking. Non refrigerated one's tend to break more as compared to others.

Yogurt and Dumplings (Boondi Raita/ Dahi Phulkiyan)

Gram flour dumplings/ Boondi is a Rajhistani food snack made from fried chickpea flour. In Pakistan or North India boondi is used to prepare yogurt dip/raita. Boondi raita typically contains beaten curd (plain yogurt), boondi (which has been soaked in water to make it soft and then sieved) and of course the seasoning of salt, chili and other spices. It can even be eaten as a side dish with rice, palao or other dishes like chick peasss.. =) 

It is said that Punjabi cuisine includes a major part of milk products.. and it is sooo true, as m punjabi too :P Usually Punjabi's serve this with their everyday meal. Cool boondi raita gives such a soothing effect in hot scotching summer. 

Boondi / Dumplings are actually tiny cute balls made of gram flour/ besan. These boondi/phulkia/dumplings are easily available in market, n u just have to soak them before using. But I prefer making them on my own. 

Lets move on to the recipe :)

Boondi raita, Dahi Phulkia (Yoghurt gram flour dumplings) | Gram flour| Snacks | Ramadhan




Ingredients for Phulkia/ dumplings:

Black pepper                                      1/4 tsp.
Salt                                                     1/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds                                        1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder                                 1/4 tsp.
Gram flour (Baysan)                             1 cup
Water                                                  1/2 cup
Baking powder                                    1/4 tsp.
Oil                                                       For frying 



Dahi Phulkia (Yoghurt gram flour dumplings) | Gram flour| Snacks | Ramadhan
Procedure:

Mix all of the above ingredients and add water gradually to make a semi thick paste. Maker sure it should not be too thin or too thick. Next, heat oil on medium heat and once hot, hold perforated spoon (a big round spoon with multiple smalll holes in it) a little above the pan & pour a small scoop of batter on it. Spread the batter on spoon so that small droplets of it fall into the oil and get fried into boondi :) Repeat the process with rest of the batter. Stir them around gradually and take them out when they turn bright yellow color. Pour them directly into cold water and drain.


Ingredients for yoghurt:

Onion                                                 3-4 chopped finely
Yoghurt                                              1/2 kg whipped
Sugar                                                  2 tbsp
Salt                                                     1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder                                1/2 tsp.
Chaat Masala                                      1/2 tsp.
Green Chilli                                         1 chopped finely
Coriander Leaves                                A bunch, Chopped
Tomato                                               1 cubed
Cumin powder                                     1 tsp.
Ketchup                                              1 tbsp.




Procedure:

Mix all of the above ingredients in yoghurt  add gram flour dumplings, garnish with ketchup & coriander leaves & serve cold :) yummyyyy!






Potato Kebabs/ Patties (Aaloo k cutlets)

Kebabs are of many different types. I have told u the recipes of Chapli kebabsShami kebabs, & Beef Kebabs. Now I will introduce u to Potato cutlets/ patties. They are mostly popular in Asian & subcontinent countries. They are made of boiled potatoes mixed with spices. Although another variety of them has boiled chicken mixed with it, which I'll discuss some other day by God's will. Different spices in it gives it an awesome taste. These delicious kebabs serve perfect as a snack, appetizers or even starters. It can be served with anything like, mint chutney, raita or ketchup. They can also be used to make sandwiches & burgers. It is also one of the favorite dishes made at festivals :) I mostly have them with rice. Here is its recipe! Enjoy :)


Potato Patties. Potato cutlets, cutlus, Aaloo k cutlets), Ramadan, Snacks, Vegetables,

Ingredients:


Potatoes                                                 1/2 kg (5-6 small) boiled, peeled & mashed
Green Chilli                                             2 chopped
Salt                                                         1/2 tsp.
Red chilli Powder                                    1/2 tsp.
Lemon Juice                                            1 tsp.
Chilli Flakes                                             Few
Cumin powder                                         1/2 tsp.
Garlic paste                                              1/2 tsp.
Chopped Coriander                                 3 tbsp.
Onion                                                      1 chopped & saute in 1 tbsp. oil
Vinegar                                                    Few drops
Black pepper                                            1/2 tsp


 Procedure:

Mix all the above mentioned ingredients in a bowl. 

Take some mixture on the palm and make 10-15 small circle shaped patties/ kebabs and freeze.

Fry them later by dipping in beaten egg (optional) and bread crumbs and serve hot :) Enjoyy!


Mashed Potato Flat Bread (Aalo ka paratha)

They say breakfast should be the heaviest meal of the day, giving u a boost of energy at the very start of a day. If u wanna follow these nutritionists “Paratha” is the best thing to have in the morning.  Fried Chapatis or flat bread called Paratha in urdu. No breakfast in the South Asian countries is considered tasty and healthy enough without a Paratha. It can be made of wheat flour / white flour or mixture of both. You can have it with any side dish u want, or with simple omelette, tea/ Pickle. So if u want any change from normal routine try this!! :) Traditionally it is made from ghee, but oil can also be used. Mostly fried flat breads/parathas are eaten plain, but modifications can be made and improvised depending upon taste and choices. I have already discussed various varieties like Radish filled Chapati & Mustard filled parathas :) here's a new type of paratha ur hubby and family will definitely love to have - potato chapati : Aalo ka paratha in urdu. Chapatis or flat bread - called roti in urdu/hindi is most popular in Asian countries. It is very versatile and can be used as a regular toast and it is a perfect accompaniment to any side dish or meal like chicken, pulses, meat, vegetables, curries. Etc. It can be made from various types of grain but most commonly made with finely ground whole wheat flour/white flour or mixture of both. To cook a soft chapati is also an art and comes by practice. The vitals considered mostly are its perfectly round shape, uniform thickness and properly cooked.
Chapatis can be reheated, but they are best cooked fresh. It can be served with any chutney or pickle. Here is its recipe:

Sandwiches are a quick and delicious way to make a meal! Best used as an appetizer & snack or even a simple super dooper easy breakfast, to have with tea. They are a light meal. Sandwich is basically a food item composed of 2 or more slices of bread with one or more fillings in between them. They are widely popular type of food used in lunch box. And can be taken to school, offices & work. They are of different varieties, like cheese sandwiches, tandoori sandwiches, club sandwiches, etc. 

Today I am going to discuss with u the most simple, easy Egg sandwiches, that can be made in few minutes. It basically has 2 ingredients : Hard boiled egg mashed properly & Mayonnaise. Carrot with Peas & Potatoes - (Aalo matar gajar)

Carrotssss--- Favorite of Big Bunny and hence popular among kids.. One of my favorite vegetables cooked with peas & potatoes. :) Carrots mostly available in red color in Pak but they may be orange in color. They are extremely nutritious & rich in anti-oxidants. They can be both served as sweet and savory. In salads, soups, halwa, kheer, juices and list goessss on :)  They are mostly served in winter, when it is the season of both peas & carrots. This dish goes well with roti/naan. This dish has a slight sweet taste due to the juiciness of carrots and peas. Although the sweetness is balanced by the potatoes added. 

Now lets move on to the recipe:





Ingredients:

Carrots                                               1/2 kg (peeled & cubed)
Peas                                                    1 n half cup
Potatoes                                              2-3
Onions                                                1 big (sliced)
Tomato                                                2 (chopped)
Oil                                                       2 wooden spoon (doi)
Green Chili                                          4
Red Chili powder                                1 tsp.           
Turmeric Powder                                1/2 tsp.
Garlic Paste                                         1 1/2 tsp.
Ginger Paste                                        1 1/2 tsp.
Salt                                                      1 tsp
Cumin Powder (Zeera)                       1 tsp.
Coriander Powder                               1/2 tsp.
Maythi (Fenugreek) leaves                 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves







Procedure:

Heat oil, and add the chopped onions. Fry until onions are light brown.

Then add garlic and ginger paste, green chilies and the chopped tomatoes, followed by all other spices. Fry for few minutes. 


Add cubed and peeled potatoes, cubed carrots and peas. Fry this for few minutes. Add some water and keep the lid covered for 30 minutes at low flame or until peas, potatoes and carrots are well cooked and oil separates.


Sprinkle garam masala (Optional) & chopped coriander and serve :)

Milk Treasure (Sago, Tapioca pearls)

Sago or Tapioca pearls are made from the starch extracted from the center of the Sago palm stems and is used in making of various puddings or soups. This is an exceptional dish, that graces any formal and even informal occasions. Kids love eating sago due to the nice spongy pearl like appearance and love them biting while they slide off in their mouth. This dish is appealing and served warm or cold.

Milk treasure is made of Sago (sagodana) and hence named after its crystal shaped balls. This recipe is just soo yum! Give it a try. :)

 Note; this pudding tends to thicken as it cools, so u can add the milk to ur desired consistency. 

Tropical Drink

Tropical Drinks are served in a variety of ways. Few are of the cocktail variety. Most of these drinks contain coconut powder & pineapple. The drink I am going to discuss today is a yummacious drink made of different fruits. Here is the recipe :)

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Pineapple chunks                                  2 cups
Mango chunks                                      1 cup
Banana                                                 1 thickly sliced
Water                                                   1 cup
Orange Juice                                         1/2 cup
Shredded coconut                                 1/4 cup
Toasted Walnuts                                   1/4 cup
Ice cubes                                             1/2 cup 



Pineapple| Orange| Walnuts| Mango| Banana| Coconut| Tropical drink





Procedure:

Add all the above ingredients in a blender and blend. Pour in glasses, garnish with cream and ice-cream if u want and enjoy!! Trust me its yummyy!!

Rasmalai (Sweet Milk Dessert)

Rasmalai is a delicious and popular milk based Pakistani/Indian dessert and is a very light one. Ras - means juicy & malai means - cream!! This dessert is sinful rich in its flavor & texture is a big hit in parties & festivals after main meals. It originated from kitchen of west Bengals. You will find a whole range of delicately balanced flavors waiting for you to surprise. Indeed an irresistible soft juicy sweet. Rasmalai is dumplings made from powdered milk soaked in sweetened thickened milk delicately flavored with cardamom & saffron & garnished with different dry fruits like almonds & pistachios.The spongy, fluffy and mildly sweet balls dunked in richness of milk are also of not much harm to dieters. I doubt no who will not like this heavenly dessert.

Crunchy Almonds Chicken (Badami Chicken Haandi)

Almond (Badami) chicken is one of the rich delicacies dishes in the Mughlai cuisine. A delicious dish which is for a King lol :P It is also popular in Pakistan & India, and is characterized by its unique cooking styles & ways. Mughlai dishes are mostly rich in nuts, dried dates, apricots etc. Their gravies are mostly buttery & creamy. Mughlai cuisine is certainly a feast for all of one's senses. They are full of taste. Some of the famous mughlai dishes are, Mughlai chicken, Tandoori chicken, biryani, kebabs, chicken tikka masala etc. 

Almond chicken is basically a combination of Chicken cubes with cream, almonds, coconut powder & spices. Almonds add crunch & nutrition to this dish <3 because they are rich in vitamins & proteins. In Pak India, almonds are the base ingredients to many pasanda style curries. They are said to give a high intellectual level :) The combined crunchy, sweet and nutty flavor from coconut & almond itself gives a nice aroma. This dish luks really appetizing. The nut's mild flavor & light coloring & mild aroma make a resourceful analog for the dish. I guess enough of information for today, lets move to the recipe : 


Chicken haandi| Almond| Coconut| Cream| Achaar Gosht| Yogurt| Spicy



Ingredients:

Chicken (boneless)                            250 gm (1/4 kg) 
Oil                                                    1 wooden spoon (doi)
Butter                                               2 tbsp.
Onions                                              1 big (sliced)
Tomato puree                                    3 peeled, blended
Green Chili                                        4 (chopped)
Red Chili powder                              1/2 tsp.           
Turmeric Powder                              1/4 tsp.
Black Pepper                                    1 tsp.
Garam Masala (Whole spices Powder) 1 tsp.
Red Chili Flakes                               1/2 tsp
Garlic Paste                                      1/2 tsp.
Ginger Paste                                     1/2 tsp.
Salt                                                   1/2 tsp.
Cumin Powder (Zeera)                     1 tsp.
Yogurt                                              2 tbsp.
Coriander Leaves (dhanyia)              Few
Cream                                              5 tbsp.
Almond powder                                1 tsp
Coconut powder                               1 tsp
Almonds                                            2 tbsp crushed

Procedure:

Heat oil, and add the cumin seeds & sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Then add ginger garlic paste . Add chicken & fry until chicken is almost done. Then add tomato puree, all the spices except whole spices powder, green chili & yogurt. Fry for few minutes and stir until oil separates. Keep gravy of ur choice. In the end add cream, butter, almond and coconut powder and mix. Garnish with all spices powder (garam masala), chopped almonds and coriander leaves. Delicious & spicy Almond chicken haandi is ready!! Enjoyyy with naan or chapati or boil rice! :)
