These chicken veggie rolls are just soo easy to make :) They were made by my hubby first time, lol. This was our second try and filling was made by me. And wrapped by my hubby :P So just think they are that easy! Best as a snack with tea!! yumm!
Ingredients for Filling:
Chicken 1/4 kg, boiled, shred
Cabbage 1 chopped
Peas 1 cup, boiled
Cabbage 1 chopped
Peas 1 cup, boiled
Onions 1 (chopped)
Green Chili 2 (chopped)
Red Chili powder 1/2 tsp.
Black Pepper ½ tsp.
Garam Masala 1/2 tsp.
Red Chili Flakes 1/2 tsp
Garlic Paste 1/2 tsp.
Ginger Paste 1/2 tsp.
Salt 1/2 tsp.
Cumin Seeds (Zeera) 1/2 tsp.
Coriander Seeds 1/2 tsp.
Coriander Leaves (dhanyia) 2 tbsp
Spring Onion 2 tbsp.
Spring Onion 2 tbsp.
Lemon Juice 1 tsp.
Carom seeds (Ajwain) Pinch
Soya Sauce Splash
Oyster Sauce Splash
Oil 4 tbsp
Other Ingredients :
Breadcrumbs
Beaten Egg
Oil for frying
Square shaped wraps - As required
Now lets start with making rolls :)
If the wrappers are frozen, defrost them either by keeping in refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for 30 mins.
Now take 1 wrapper out of the packet and keep the rest inside the packet, to prevent them from drying in air and hence cracking :)
Place wrapper like a diamond, as shown on a dry, clean surface. Its better to keep the smoother side outside, it fries up a bit nicer looking :)

Other Ingredients :
Breadcrumbs
Beaten Egg
Oil for frying
Square shaped wraps - As required
Procedure:
First of all boil peas & chicken. Shred the boiled chicken. Mix all the above mentioned ingredients for filling properly except oil. Next, heat oil, and fry for 3-4 minutes only :) Spicy chicken veggie filling is ready :)
Tip: Let the filling cool. Steam of hot filling makes wrapper wet and spoils the the spring rolls. Secondly the dry the filling, the better. Tilt the pan and drain all excess moisture if any.

Place wrapper like a diamond, as shown on a dry, clean surface. Its better to keep the smoother side outside, it fries up a bit nicer looking :)
Place 2 tablespoon of filling at corner as shown in pic. Lesser the filling, the better. Overfilling spring rolls break apart while frying.
Fold over the corner & hold tight.
Fold over the left side.
Tip: Leave no air space pockets, because, air pockets = oil seepage = oily Chicken Roll.
Fold over the other side. No air pockets; remember!
Fold up the roll as shown in pic, nice, tight & even.
Finger paint some cornstarch or beaten egg along the edge.
Close it up. See how nice the roll has been wrapped, with no hole or air pockets :)
U can now freeze the rolls and fry them up later.
Once ready for frying, heat the oil, roll the rolls first in beaten egg & then breadcrumbs, as shown :)
Deep fry few at a time. Keep turning them to brown evenly. Once golden brown, they are done :) Drain & serve with ketchup.. slurrrpp!
P.S. U can fry directly without using egg & crumbs. I actually prefer it cox it makes the rolls soft :)

ReplyDeleteWhat is this wrap made of, is it same as samosa pati ? We get samosa pati only at our side but if i use that for these rolls it will make them crunchy instead of soft rolls. Please advise how can i make this wrap at home ?
Thanx in advance,
Wasalam.. Yes it is same as samosa patti.. But for samosa the shape used is rectangle & for rolls it is of square shape. For the crunchy thing u can roll them in egg & breadcrumbs as explained above. The wrap is made of flour. I'll explain in a post soon In sha Allah. And u are welcome :)
