Before I entered the world of cooking I always wondered how people at KFC made such crunchy & crispy yet tender Zinger burger. This delicious burger always caught my eye. So one fine evening, I thought of giving it a try. It turned out soo great and yummy that i could not stop licking my fingers..... it was actually "finger lickin' good". A must try recipe for all fast food lovers.. This recipe is adapted from FKF. Following are step by step instructions:
Ingredients:
For Chicken marination:
Chicken Breast 2 thick
Ginger garlic paste 1/2 tsp.
Soya Sauce 1 tsp.
Oregano (Ajwain) 1/2 tsp.
Oregano (Ajwain) 1/2 tsp.
Black pepper 1/2 tsp.
Salt 1/2 tsp.
Red chili powder 1 tsp.
Lemon 1 tbsp.
Note: If u don't have butter milk, just add 2 tbsp of lemon juice or vinegar in 1 cup milk (at room temperature) and let it stand for 15 minutes. Stir it and use :)
For Frying:
1st Plate:
Plain flour 6 tbsp.
Cornflour 4 tbsp.
Baking Powder 1/2 tsp.
Salt 1 tsp.
Black Pepper 1 tsp.
2nd Plate:
Egg 1 lightly beaten
Milk 1 tbsp
3rd Plate:
Cornflakes 2 cups (Crushed)
Oil for deep frying
For Burger:
Burger buns 4
Cheese Slice 4
Mayonnaise 8 tbsp.
Lettuce leaves 4
Procedure:
For Chicken marination:
First of clean the chicken breasts, remove any fat, wash them.
Slice each of the breast piece from the center into two thinner slices. It will result in 4 thin slices from 2 chicken breasts.
Next mix all the ingredients for the chicken marinade in a bowl. And soak all the 4 pieces in the marinade overnight.
For Frying:
Now take 3 wide plates, and mix the above ingredients as mentioned in their respective plates as shown below and set aside.
Now remove the chicken breasts from the marinade, and shake off the excess marinade.
Then dust the breast slice in the 1st plate - seasoned flour on both sides as shown:
Next dip both sides in the 2nd plate- egg mixture:
Slice each of the breast piece from the center into two thinner slices. It will result in 4 thin slices from 2 chicken breasts.
Next mix all the ingredients for the chicken marinade in a bowl. And soak all the 4 pieces in the marinade overnight.
For Frying:
Now take 3 wide plates, and mix the above ingredients as mentioned in their respective plates as shown below and set aside.
1.Baking powder, Plain flour ,Salt,Black Pepper & Cornflour
2. Eggs & Milk
3. Cornflakes
Now remove the chicken breasts from the marinade, and shake off the excess marinade.
Then dust the breast slice in the 1st plate - seasoned flour on both sides as shown:
Next dip both sides in the 2nd plate- egg mixture:
Now roll it in the 3rd plate- crushed cornflakes:
Repeat this again. That is, coat it again with flour mixture, egg mixture and finally cornflakes. This results in double coating. Althu bit messy.. but don't worry as the results will be super perfect.
Next heat oil for deep frying, and once the oil is hot, set the heat to medium flame, and put the slices in oil. Wait until each side is golden and crisp and the chicken is properly cooked. One side will take about 3 minutes.
Once done, remove the chicken breasts and drain on paper.
Now comes the preparing of the burger. Slightly toast buns on both sides. On one side.. put a layer of mayonnaise, a slice of cheese, lettuce leaf followed on top with the fried Chicken zinger slice :)
Again pour some mayonnaise and put the other half of bun on it. :) yummy chicken zinger is ready. Serve with fries & cold drink !!

ReplyDeletemy dear u can use breadcrumbs, if u don't like cornflakes, but the result won't be that crunchy and crispy, as the original Zinger. O yes u can use crushed potato chips which the kids mostly love to eat, but accordingly adjust spices in flour :)

ReplyDeleteThanks dear, before freezing it marinate it overnight in refrigerator. Then u can freeze. But coating with flour, egg & cornflakes works best at the spot when u have to fry!
