Bottle Gourd - C\also called Louki/Ghia/Dudhi in urdu/hindi. This is a vegetable with excellent health benefits. Even it was our Prophets favorite vegetable!! Today I am introducing u a yogurt based dish - made of this spiced veggie. It tastes delicious! It is also best for ppl on diet, as very less oil used :) The veggie is shown in the pic below:
Ingredients:
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Sugar 1/4 tsp
Black pepper 1/4 tsp
Bottle Gourd (Lauki) 1 medium sized
Yogurt 1 cup
Coriander leaves 5-10 (Chopped)
Green Chili paste 1 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Sugar 1/4 tsp
Black pepper 1/4 tsp
Bottle Gourd (Lauki) 1 medium sized
Yogurt 1 cup
Coriander leaves 5-10 (Chopped)
Green Chili paste 1 tsp
Procedure:
First of all take the veggie. Peel it with a peeler. Wash it. Cut it into 2 pieces.
Next grate it as shown. It will be appox. 1 cup.
Now, take a saucepan, heat it, add the grated bottle gourd (Lauki) in it. Add few tsp of water. Add salt & black pepper. Cover the pan, and keep on very low flame for 10-15 minutes. Keep stirring in between. The veggie itself will release enough. Once tender, raise the flame & cook until all water gets evaporated. Cool it down.
Next take a bowl, whisk yogurt, add cumin seeds, sugar, coriander, green chili paste, add the veggie & mix. Adjust salt & the yummacious raita is readyyy to serve. Serve it with rice or Flat bread (Chapati) with butter on it.. yumm!! Those on diet can add chopped onions & tomatoes in it and have with spoon hehe :P Plz :)
Enjoy!
