Chocolate Marble cake- Marble cake - Vanilla & Chocolate marble cake ... what ever u call ;) I have got so many requests asking "How to make a marble cake?"
Yesterday was my birthday.. 1 more year passed in a glimpse :( So, I thought of sharing marble cake recipe with u.. hope u will love it :)
Ingredients:
Unsalted Butter/Oil 1/2 cup
Sugar (Granulated) 1 cup
Eggs 3
Vanilla Essence 1 1/2 tsp.
Flour 1 1/2 cups
Baking powder 2 1/4 tsp.
Milk 1/4 cup + 1/8 cup
Cocoa powder 2 heaped tbsp.
Procedure:
SUMMARY: U just have to make a batter.. then divide it into two. Add cocoa in one.. And then pour them in a cake pan alternatively in a checkerboard pattern .. :) and bakeeee...yooo.. lets move to detailed recipe -
First of all, Combine flour and baking powder in a bowl after sifting them and set aside.
Mix butter and sugar in another separate larger bowl.
Mix & Mix.
Mix the batter until fluffy and smooth. Remember not to leave chunks in it.
Then add eggs in it one by one.
Then add vanilla essence. Beat again properly.
Beat until soft, creamy and fluffy as shown below :)
Next add flour and 1/4 cup of the milk in the above (egg) mixture in 3 alternative pours. Start and end with flour mixture. Combine all things and remember not to over mix or it will ruin ur cake.
NOW
Preheat oven to 180 C properly. If the oven is not heated properly, marble cake structure will not form.
Next divide this white batter into 2 equal portions.
Keep 1 portion of the mixture plain. Add cocoa powder to the 2nd portion in a separate bowl. And mix well :))
Now start adding rest of the 1/8th cup of milk gradually until it attains almost the same consistency as that of the white batter. As adding cocoa powder will make the batter dense. If we won't add milk into it, the batter being dense will settle down :( After adding milk, Mix well.
Now, place the wax paper in the pan & grease it and start assembling ur cake batter :)
Now comes the most interesting part, how to give the marble cake its pattern? Take one big full spoon of the plain mixture and pour it into the pan. Then take spoon full of cocoa mixture and pour it in just next to the plain mixture. Continue to pour the mixtures one by one in circle, so that it forms a checker board pattern as shown below. This would give the cake its marble pattern. This will be the bottom layer.
Next repeat the pattern alternatively on the top of this layer. That is- Plain vanilla batter on top of chocolate batter & vice versa :)
P.S. Keep in mind that the mixtures should be poured without letting the previous mixture spread. So be quick in pouring one mixture next to the other. Don't wait for it to spread.
Now swirl the batter with the help of knife/fork/spatula in a circular pattern as shown :)
Result:
P.S. Don't swirl too much or it will turn into a chocolate cake ;)
Check by a knife or tooth pick to see if the cake is done.
Once done, run the edges with a knife, let it cool down, before u take it out in the serving dish :)
Yummm..
You can top your cake with cream and sprinkles or chocolate or anything else you want :) Enjoy!!
P.S. I made it without oven.. method of which I will post soon IA :) Update- Baking without oven's method - HERE.
