Mint Chutney usually known as Hari chutney in urdu or hindi, is a spicy dip made from mint & coriander leaves. It is a delicious and healthy dip, and can be used with different dishes. It is an extremely flavourful and versatile condiment & is served in small quantities. It is one of the most popular dip around the world as it can be served with any food, mixed in yoghurt to make raita, put on chapati with butter etc. This chutney has the aromatic freshness of mint combined with the earthiness of coriander. It can also be used to prepare snacks. It is best used as a condiment with grilled food or even fried one, but may be used as a spread or dip too.. Stored in air tight container this dip can stay long for weeks. It can also be frozen. Here goes the recipe:
Ingredients:
Mint Leaves 1 bunch
Coriander leaves 1 bunch
Red Chili powder 2-3 tsp.
Coriander leaves 1 bunch
Red Chili powder 2-3 tsp.
Salt 2-3 tsp.
Cumin Powder (Zeera) 1 1/2 tsp.
Onion 5-6
Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
Pomegranate seeds 2 tsp
Mango Pickle Optional
Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
Pomegranate seeds 2 tsp
Mango Pickle Optional
Procedure:
Peel onions, separate leaves of mint & coriander & wash them.
Chop onions, pomegranate seeds, coriander & mint leaves in a hand grinder (kootney) or chopper, add rest ingredients, mix and refrigerate for further use with different snacks. :)
P.S. I love to have it with flat bread (chapati/roti) & clarified butter. It tastes yummy. :))
