Winters are coming!! And everyone is craving for fish!! Fish was probably among the preliminary foods used by our fore
fathers living near areas which have water or those in islands. Almost 2/3rd of the earth
has been covered with water. So, fish is a major resource of food throughout
the world. There are millions of varieties of fishes. Fish mostly have its own
special taste, so mostly it is preferred to cook in very few spices. Deep sea
fish are rich in protein & omega fatty acids & low in saturated fat and
hence it’s best if u are on a diet. Fish is a better option for protein resources, especially for those friends who don't like to eat red meat or any other kind of meat due to any personal restrictions, religious or dietary belief. Besides, main savory dishes & some difficult fish recipes, fish can be included in soups or cooked with pasta/noodles. Fish is a very appetizing & versatile meat. It can be cooked in variety of ways. Food was eaten raw before the use of heat & fire. Fishing has become a hobby and fascinate many youngsters. Even my hubby has bought a fishing rod, and soon we will be visiting some place like Chashma here near Mianwali, to catch some fish and enjoy :P There are hundreds & thousands different varieties of fish, and the taste varies from species to species. Generally, deep sea fish are protein rich & less fat, favorite of people on diet. But fish itself best for diet and can be steamed, fried with even a tablespoon of oil, grilled, baked and what not.
Deep fried fish is an easy way to cook fish.Fish and chips are made this way and served with ketchup/ sauce. Flavour can be enhanced by adding different spices, lemon or tenderizing your fish acc to ur taste. Fish is one of my hubby’s favorite dishes in winters. No matter in which forms it may be cooked. Today I am going to discuss with u the simplest form of cooking fish (variety I have used is Rahu) that is, frying it using gram flour. Here is its simplest recipe:
Ingredients:
Rahu fish 12 small pc. (1/2 kg)
Salt 1 tbsp.
Red chili powder 1 tbsp.
Garlic Paste 1 tbsp.
Cumin powder 1 tsp.
Salt 1 tbsp.
Red chili powder 1 tbsp.
Garlic Paste 1 tbsp.
Cumin powder 1 tsp.
Lemon 2 tbsp.
Gram flour (Baysan) 12-15 tbsp.
Water 1/2 cup
Oil For frying
Before I have discussed the following varieties of fish:
Fish sticks (Shashlick)
Qasoori Fried Fish
Baked Fish
Gram flour (Baysan) 12-15 tbsp.
Water 1/2 cup
Oil For frying
Procedure:
Mix all of the above ingredients (except fish & salt) and add water gradually to make a semi thick paste. Make sure it shouldn't be too thin or too thick.
Remove scales of the fish, wash with wheat flour. Cut fish into pieces like this. And marinate it with salt for 2-3 hrs or less.
Dip the fish into the paste from both sides.
Heat oil on medium heat & pour the dipped fish pieces in oil.
Stir them around gradually and take them out when they turn golden brown & fish is done. Make sure oil is not too hot, otherwise fish will remain raw. Drain on tissue or a paper and serve hot with ketchup or chutney ! :)
